Food and Fibre Centre of Vocational Excellence recently completed an evaluation of the Agribusiness in Schools (AIS) programme, which has been running for over 10 years. This programme has had a significant impact on students' pathways towards tertiary training or employment in the food and fibre sector. The evaluation provides valuable insights, including the finding that AIS students were 3.6 times more likely to enrol in relevant tertiary training compared to non-AIS students. Agribusiness in Schools
Agribusiness in Schools in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, NZQA and the primary industries have collaborated to design an agribusiness programme that will prepare the best and brightest students for careers in the primary sector.
It is offered at NCEA Levels 2 and 3 and is designed for students who excel in science and commerce subjects. This academic course exposes students to the wide range of skills required and the opportunities available in the primary sector beyond the farm gate.
The agribusiness programme is now being offered at other schools around New Zealand.
If you are interested in teaching Agribusiness this year and you have not already let us know of your intentions, please can you do so. We will be endeavouring to help you implement Agribusiness into your schools, so we are wanting some information on how to best meet your needs. Please click on the link and fill out the form:
